Jorge Lorenzo wins Estoril MotoGP!

Track Event 4 - Friday 6th June, at Oulton Park, with Avon.

Seven 20-minute-each track sessions are in store for the 45 riders who will be taking part in our June event, together with Avon.

This will be our first excursion to Oulton Park and we're planning to lay on a great day out for the customer guest team!

The provisional guest list is now closed and, as the day is inevitably over-subscribed, we're working with Avon to allocate places in as fair a way as possible. The successful entrants will be notified in a few days, and a joining pack sent out.

Questions and queries to Becca please, freephone 0800 281 413.

Here are a few shots from the March Track Attack with Bridgestone. With over 800 images to sort from the day, and bike ID numbers soaked in the downpour, we're looking for a way of getting a souvenir photograph to everyone who took part!

Bridgestone's BT-014 (Non OE-fitments) is generating TRIPLE POINTS in our latest promotion on www.moto-vate.com "until further notice". Here's an easy way to progress upwards through the various reward levels in our Customer Loyalty Rewards Programme where there is something for everyone. To register, please go to www.moto-vate.com right now!

It was a superb result for Michelin when their riders scooped 1st and 2nd places on the podium at Estoril, after Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa left Valentino Rossi ahead of the rest of the field, in third place. Michelin had also dominated qualifying with every one of its seven riders in the top eight and rookie Lorenzo on pole.

"I feel like I'm in heaven", said the 20 year-old Lorenzo, who also set a new lap record. "The bike is working so well and we are doing some great work with Michelin. I feel great with the tyres."

Also riding well on Michelin were Colin Edwards, 4th, James Toseland, 7th, and Andrea Dovizioso, who ran brilliantly with the leaders, until falling at half -distance.

Next stop, 4th May, Shanghai circuit, and the Pramac Grand Prix of China.

We're selling a lot more scooter tyres this year than previously. Maybe the cost of fuel is finally pushing commuters towards lower profile two wheel transport, as has always been forecast to happen.

We're UK Trade Distributor for Sava, the European manufacturer based in Slovenia. Therefore, our customers' demand obviously includes a resulting distortion but, the Sava lead in our league table is so huge that we believe the following is an indicative reflection of demand out in the market place.

Where the total market is 100%, our sales of the top player manufacturers' UK sales of scooter rubber look like:

Sava 49%
Deestone 14%
Bridgestone 11%
Michelin 8%
Avon 5%
Continental 5%
Pirelli 5%
Dunlop 2%
Metzeler 1%

Recently, a Sava "Sporty" wrist band was bagged onto every front cover of the scooter sport magazine "Twist and Go". We know they're cute, but we weren't pleased to find all the staff of a major local newsagent wearing one a few days later!

And on the subject of the rising cost of fuel, on 1st May our standard next-working-day carriage charge goes up from £6.00 to £7.00 per consignment, following the first increase for a long time from our carrier.

Just to explain. We hate charging "carriage" and we rarely do. If an order comes in for less than £100.00 before VAT we'll always ring the customer to see if we can be allowed to add anything to bring the order value up to "carriage paid", or we'll keep it on hold, if the goods aren't required immediately, until something else is needed.

So, if we do levy a carriage charge, it's because the buyer has elected to pay it, not a "nice little earner" for us!

Hot news, to be confirmed next week! We're talking to Pirelli about tickets for the Oulton Park BSB round early in May, and hope to have enough to make up a small party of customer friends to join us there.

As always, watch this space!

Following recent homologation tests, Dunlop advise that every bike which comes equipped with Japanese specification Qualifier D209's as original equipment, is now fully approved for fitment with the standard replacement Qualifier D209 instead. Japanese OE Qualifier D209's should ideally be replaced with standard tyres in pairs, but single tyre replacements have been tested and are permissible.

The machines concerned are:
Honda CBR 600 RR ('07 - '08) and CBR 1000 RR ('08)
Kawasaki Z 750 ('07 - '08), Z 1000 ('07 - '08) and ZX-10R D ('06 - '07)
Suzuki B-King ('07 - '08)
Yamaha YZF-R6 ('06 - '08)
