Event 5 in the Bike Tyrestore Track Action programme, this time with Michelin!

The date: Wednesday 13th August
The place: Oulton Park
The name: “Get On Track with Michelin Two Compound Technology”
The bonus: Free Two Compound Technology tyres by Michelin.

Just 5 days to go! Joining instructions and free Michelin Two Compound Technology product have been delivered to our guest riders, so all is set for a fantastic event at Oulton Park!

The circuit has allocated garages 19 to 26 for our group, so please go straight there on arrival, where Becca and team will be waiting to welcome everyone. It's great to have a private garage area, so everybody can get to know each other, and Bibendum will be able keep an eye on things!

There are a load of additional attractions, apart from the pure excitement of riding the Cheshire circuit, so any non-riding supporters will be well entertained and, in the unlikely event of anyone getting bored with the track action, there's no shortage of things to do!

This will be our last customer outing in 2008, but the programme is so popular we are sure to be back, "On Track With Bike Tyrestore" and the major tyre manufacturers in 2009!

PRICE INCREASE ALERT!

Here we go again! Struggling to remain profitable in the face of massive increases in fuel and raw material prices, a number of manufacturers have been forced to increase their two wheel tyre prices, details follow:

1st September 2008:
AVON. TBA
BRIDGESTONE. Average +6%
METZELER. Radial +5%. Conventional +7%. Scooter +3%
PIRELLI. Radial +5%. Conventional +7%. Scooter +3%.

A couple of points. First off, despite everything, consumers are still, in general, paying less for motorcycle tyres than they were 10 years ago, pro-rata, and receiving a level of technology they could only have dreamt of back then.

And, as we may have mentioned before (!), the on-going round of price increases means that only in YOUR Online Warehouse, from Bike Tyrestore, can dealers find live, constantly updated, tyre price information, along with our stock 24/7, as well as being able to place orders directly from the Warehouse site. "Books" and printed price lists belong in the bin - get online with us and find peace of mind!

A VIP visitor to Bike Tyrestore last week was Michael Ellis, 2 Wheel Product Line Sales and Marketing Director Worldwide, for Michelin.

It was an honour and a great pleasure to meet Michael, who was able to bring us up to date on Michelin's plans for the expansion of their Moto business, which has grown rapidly in 2008. Michelin don't do things by halves, nor do they take on projects they don't intend to finish so, when their UK Two Wheel chief Olivier Gros, proclaims the manufacturer's intention to be market leader in sports and sports/touring replacement tyres, sooner rather than later, competitors should take note!

Thanks to Michael for spending time with us, and we look forward to seeing him again soon.

Coming soon to our Customer Loyalty Rewards programme - and just in time for colder nights and mornings as we drift into Autumn, is a smart Michelin fleece. Backing it up, and making it even easier for our customers to progress through the four reward levels, is a triple points promotion whereby all Michelin two wheel product purchased from us will earn three points per tyre!

The Michelin fleece and extra points will be our featured attraction for September, so check back for more information. In the meantime there's "loads to see and do" in www.moto-vate.com, including a free films offer together with LOVEFILM.COM, who signed up with us just recently.

Purchasers of standard model Pirelli Diablo tyres are earning TRIPLE POINTS in Moto-Vate, but Pirelli* buyers can also accumulate AIRMILES, to add to the "miles" collected at any number of household name outlets in the course of day-to-day shopping.

To join up to this unique initiative from Pirelli and Bike Tyrestore, go www.worldofbiketyres.com > Features > "Airmiles With Pirelli".

* Promotion excludes scooter tyres.

Ryuichi Kiyonari had two sensational wins in the tenth round of the HANNspree FIM Superbike World Championship last Sunday, in front of 97,000 Brands Hatch spectators, including a group of Bike Tyrestore customers, there as hospitality guests of Pirelli.

Reigning BSB champion, the 25 year-old got the better of Troy Bayliss in race one, and Noriyuki Haga in race 2 crowning a triumphant week, after his victory at Suzuka just a few days previously.

The mag. has been testing tyres again. This time back to Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, now with a BMW R1200GS and offerings from Avon (Storm/Azaro ST), Bridgestone (BT-020/021), Continental (TKC80 Twinduro and Road Attack pairs), Metzeler (Roadtec Z6), finally Michelin (Pilot Road).

"Brunters" is unique in the UK, with space for absolute top speed runs, ropey surfaces and controlled conditions. Each set of tyres was subjected to a minimum of ten flying laps. Conti's Twinduros were the odd ones out so the magazine, in fairness, didn't assess them against the competition, but for extreme contrast purposes. Amongst the other runners, scores of between two and five stars were awarded, with the Bridgestone combination being clear winner. "The Avons and the Metzelers are good, but the Bridgestones are just better everywhere", said Bike's Bruce Dunn.
