Event 5 in the Bike Tyrestore Track Action programme, this time with Michelin!

The date was: Wednesday 13th August
The place was:Oulton Park
The name was: “Get On Track with Michelin Two Compound Technology”
The bonus was: Free Two Compound Technology tyres by Michelin
The result was: “The best customer track day yet!”

It is said that "the sun shines upon the righteous" and although some might think that was stretching a point, Event 5 in our Track Action programme was blessed with dry, even sunny, weather despite the rest of the nation being awash. All of our invited riders came along, the first time we've achieved a 100% turnout, and our guests travelled from as far the deep south west, and the north of Scotland, finding the package of riding the Cheshire circuit, on free Two Compound Technology tyres by Michelin, impossible to resist!

The day began with a safety briefing, followed by a short introduction to Two Compound Technology from the Michelin team, who went on to present our MD, Peter, with a framed Repsol T-shirt personally signed by MotoGP star, Dani Pedrosa!

Shortly afterwards, our 45 riders were on track for the first of seven attacks upon the complex and physically demanding Oulton Park full circuit. Everyone completed the day's action safely, kept fed and watered by Becca, Traci and the Michelin support team, who also managed the F1 Simulator, Porsche and Aprilia RoadShow attractions.

Pilot Power 2CT and Power Race were the favoured choices of Two Compound Michelin Technology, both to great acclaim, particularly by riders new to the French manufacturer's rubber. "Superb feedback, fantastic grip, so stable, brilliant track day tyre" were some of the comments we overheard, whilst Pilot Road 2 had no difficulty showing that Michelin's Sports Touring rubber delivers not only the "best wet grip and mileage" but also shows a clean pair of heels around a race track!

A full report on the Two Compound Technology event will be featured in the next issue of Motorcycle Trader and we'll have more photographs next week. Every rider will receive a personal action photo, a souvenir of a day when it's safe to say that only Oulton Park delivered a suntan, on top of everything else, as the British Summer crashed out across the country!

We'll be back in 2009, with more "Track Action", major manufacturer involvement, and many happy customers, to be sure!

GRAND PRIX CESKE REPUBLIKY

The summer break is over and MotoGP returns to Brno on Sunday 17th August, with Casey Stoner no doubt looking to repeat his 2007 pole position and victory, following a hard fought race, with second placed John Hopkins giving Stoner a serious run for his money!

Bridgestone heads into the final third of the season with two of its riders at the head of the championship classification. Valentino Rossi's win in Laguna Seca extended his lead of the series to 212 points, while Casey Stoner continued his championship revival, to claim second place in the leadership table.

Highest placed Michelin rider, Dani Pedrosa, is thought to have recovered from his injuries after crashing in the wet at Sachsenring, and will be battling to regain his early season championship lead, but now against long odds.

Bridgestone's pre and post race reports can be read in full in the "News" and "Bridgestone Motorsport" areas of our website, www.worldofbiketyres.com.

Big apologies to anyone who is still waiting for their free Summer Workshop Kit from Pirelli and Moto-Vate.

Demand was huge so we had to send to Italy for extra supplies, which have just arrived!

Please bear with us; it may be the Kits will arrive before "Summer" does anyway!

Moto-Vate is our customer loyalty rewards programme. Please follow the link below to join up, or just to see what's new!

Coming soon is "Moto-Zone", a special interest area within the programme, where we will have goods and schemes directly related to biking, and please remember that nothing claimed from Moto-Vate ever reduces your accumulated points, which continue to grow with every tyre purchased from us, taking members forward towards the higher rewards levels!

Good trick that!

Becca and Scott spent last Saturday in Pirelli mode, when they took our Dealer Tyre Clinic out to support the Open Day at a major customer's premises, Kings Two Wheel Centre in Kidlington, near Oxford.

Bradley Smith was the star attraction, and spent all day chatting to visitors, signing autographs and setting fastest lap round Brands Hatch in an X Box simulation, for which Pirelli had generously donated a pair of hospitality tickets to the World Superbikes round at Donington on 7th September. Bradley passed the prize on to the next fastest "rider", who was rightly well pleased!

This was one of the best Open Days we have attended, with lots of attractions for riders and friends, including the all-important burger van, also Oxford products, and Hyosung with a range of machines on display. Despite the wet weather, the Dealership was packed all day, which shows the value of careful preparation and a personality guest.

Thanks to Steve, Roger and the rest of the team at Kings Two Wheel, also Pirelli for their display material and much appreciated prizes!

The UK's premier quad festival kicks off on Saturday 23rd August with the main event on Sunday 24th and it’s the fourth QRA Great 8, at Hannington, near Basingstoke in Hampshire.

The following Monday there is a programme for manufacturers, ASM's, staff, dealers and customers and it's a packed long-weekend from Friday afternoon when camping begins, through Saturday with various attractions including a "Beautiful Quad" competition and mountain bike race, into Sunday when competitors set off around an eight mile circuit, for eight hours, looking to snatch the winning team prize of eight hundred pounds!

"Posh toilets", Great 8 licensed bar, party and hog roast are a few more good reasons why Hannington will be the place to be for Quad enthusiasts - entry forms from Tony on 07774 434468, e-mail tony@qrauk.com, or Gaynor, 0797 9300084.

Resplendent on top of the Michelin hospitality unit at Oulton Park on Wednesday, Bibendum attracted visitors from all over the paddock, as well as providing a focus point for our party.

First created in 1898 by the imagination of the Michelin brothers and the paintbrush of the talented poster artist O'Galop, alias Marius Rossillon, Bibendum was an immediate success. "Bib" today is a slimmed down and modernised version of the original, but still the world's best known trademark, being recognised internationally even more widely than is "Coca-Cola"!

Find out more about "Bib's" story at www.michelinsport.com.

Why do we ………….record all calls to the Customer Service team? There are a number of reasons, as explained in the intro, as a customer's call is placed with the team, for "customer service and training purposes", so we can keep an eye on our call handling skills. Also, to enable us to resolve any (rare) issues over what a customer believes he has ordered in a friendly manner - we can even play a call back to the buyer and we find that not having an argument lets us sort things out happily, without leaving any bad feelings. "Big Brother" it's not, efficient, it is.
